The symbol of Hamburg
St. Michael’s Church – known locally as the “Michel” – is Hamburg’s most famous church and one of the city’s most important landmarks. As early as the 18th century, its Baroque tower shaped the city skyline and served as an important point of orientation for sailors on the River Elbe. To this day, the Michel stands for Hamburg’s history, pride and Hanseatic identity.

The 132-meter-high tower offers one of the best views over Hamburg, stretching from the harbor all the way to the Elbphilharmonie.
